Over the years, more and more data has come out touting the benefits of drinking moderate amounts of this popular beverage. Studies show that coffee boost our concentration, cardiovascular health, defence against certain types of cancers and physical endurance.
So how do you make something this good even better? Well, new studies have shown that adding cocoa powder to your coffee is a great low-calorie option. By doing this, you can help counter some of the anxiety caused by the caffeine. You can also increase the health benefits in your morning cup.
COCOA, IT’S NOT JUST FOR CAKES
Cocoa is a plant-based nutrient that is commonly extracted and used for making baked goods we love so much. But since it comes from a plant, cocoa is full of a variety of immune boosting polyphenols. These nutrients play a huge role in cardiovascular health and lowering blood pressure.
A controlled study by Clarkson University also showed that participants that combined cocoa with coffee experienced less anxiety than those who drank only coffee. This resulted in the first group being able to concentrate better and longer on tasks. They did not become distracted as a result of anxiety from the caffeine in the non-cocoa group.
So the next time you’re visiting your parents, ask your mum for that box of cocoa powder she probably isn’t using and enjoy a supercharged cup of morning coffee. Put cocoa in your coffee today!
