BRILLIANT WAYS TO CONTROL CRAVINGS

Brilliant Ways to Control Cravings

Are you finding it tough to stay committed to your nutrition plan? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. We all have cravings, and even the most dedicated person feels the urge to reach for a chocolate bar once in a while. Making the switch to a healthy diet doesn’t mean those tasty foods you once indulged in suddenly disappear. You’re actually going to be tempted throughout your day and what you need to do is to control cravings.

Here are the 5 best ways to do just that.

LEARN TO CONTROL CRAVINGS AND KISS BAD EATING HABITS GOODBYE

1. STAY HYDRATED

Your brain can actually confuse hunger cravings with thirst cravings when you are dehydrated. The next time you feel the urge to reach for a bag of chips, try a large glass of water (or two) instead. If after a couple of minutes you’re still hungry, opt for a healthy food source that helps you to maintain your nutrition plan.

2. PLAN YOUR MEALS

If you really want to be successful at eating healthy, you need to prepare your meals ahead of time. By doing this, you are able to have the food you need readily available and avoid chances of eating out at a restaurant or ordering in.

You might feel uncomfortable bringing Tupperware to work, but once you start to see the results of your discipline, you’ll realise it’s well worth it. Meal prepping also helps keep your wallet a little bigger while your waist gets smaller.

3. DON’T SKIP MEALS

You usually have your most intense cravings when you go without eating for a long time. This is why it’s important to eat small meals frequently and avoid skipping them.

4. REDUCE STRESS

Emotional eating is a real thing. Some of us deal with stress well while others don’t. If you’re in the group, it may not be uncommon for you to turn to food as a source of comfort, hence the term, “comfort food”. But there are better ways to manage stress and you should seek out the method that suits you best.

5. DRINK GREEN TEA

Green tea provides us with many health benefits that are well-documented. It also helps to suppress our appetite and it can act as a great option to go to between meals to help curb those cravings.

Cravings are very common. Most people find it difficult to control cravings, especially those who are prone to weight gain. Nevertheless, being aware of your cravings and what triggers them will make it much easier to eat healthier and live healthier while you lose weight.

When you put together the sum total of my 30 years of bodybuilding training, the contests, the vast array of diets I have experimented (tortured) myself with as well as the experiences I have been through with various training partners in the gyms I have trained in all over the world, it’s been a great ride and I wouldn’t change it for anything. Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to be able to do lots of personal training for private clients alongside my day job. For a few years during my 30’s, I moved to Asia and worked as the Fitness Manager and head personal trainer at one of Thailand’s leading gyms in Bangkok. Learn More
