TREATING DEPRESSION WITH MAGNESIUM

Dealing with depression is a serious matter. There are many reasons as to why you may be suffering from this condition. In many serious cases, a person has prescribed medication from their doctor. While those meds may cure the depression, they also come with a long list of negative side effects. If you want a natural remedy, you can try treating depression with magnesium.

A NATURAL WAY OF TREATING DEPRESSION WITH MAGNESIUM?

A CASE FOR TREATING DEPRESSION WITH MAGNESIUM

Dark thoughts (suicide), lack of feelings and emotion, and even sexual problems, in our case, erectile dysfunction are just some of the negative side effects of medication. With all of this to deal with, a natural and less harsh remedy has been searched high and low. There is a strong case to be made for magnesium supplementation in easing the burden of depression.

A four-week clinical trial involving 126 who suffered from mild depression determined concluded that half of the people involved felt much better after taking small amounts of magnesium per day. The other group, who took a placebo, saw no improvement in mood or emotions.

MAGNESIUM AND TESTOSTERONE

Magnesium has a direct effect on our bodies. It aids in increasing the amount of testosterone available in our bodies. Since most of us don’t get enough magnesium from our diet, deficiencies in this mineral are common.

Combine that with the natural decrease of testosterone production of a 40-year-old male and you end up with a very valid reason for the depression you may be feeling.

Magnesium also has an effect on other areas of the body as it pertains to muscle growth. It has been to drastically improve your insulin sensitivity meaning your body will need less sugar to restore blood glucose. Also, it helps greatly to absorb protein into the muscles.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I TAKE?

The amount used in the study I mentioned above was 248mg per day. The average recommended dose is 400mg per day. So depending on how you feel or if you have been diagnosed with low testosterone, it’s probably a good idea to start somewhere in between those numbers and gauge how you feel from week to week.

Magnesium, when taken responsibly is a safe and cheap supplement, so it won’t hurt your health or your wallet. So, if you want a natural remedy, it’s worth to consider treating depression with magnesium.

When you put together the sum total of my 30 years of bodybuilding training, the contests, the vast array of diets I have experimented (tortured) myself with as well as the experiences I have been through with various training partners in the gyms I have trained in all over the world, it’s been a great ride and I wouldn’t change it for anything. Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to be able to do lots of personal training for private clients alongside my day job. For a few years during my 30’s, I moved to Asia and worked as the Fitness Manager and head personal trainer at one of Thailand’s leading gyms in Bangkok. Learn More
