Considering all of these supposed benefits, it comes as no surprise that ginseng is one of the most popular ingredients in sexual health supplements for men. Ginseng intake could lead to better performance in the bedroom, a positive effect on libido and improved sperm quality. A study published in the Journal of Urology showed that Korean red ginseng is an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction.


If you’ve never taken sexual health supplements before, then you’ve probably never heard of L-citrulline. This amino acid is transformed into L-arginine, which is present in a large majority of men’s health supplements. However, research published in Urology says that L-arginine itself isn’t effectively absorbed by the body because it gets metabolised too fast.

There is a good amount of research in the case of L-citrulline. Supplements containing this non-essential amino acid have been used to fight erectile dysfunction. Other than that, it has also been linked to high sexual satisfaction.


Yohimbine is a compound derived from the bark of the Yohimbe tree, which is native to Central Africa. It may be used to increase the general health of your sexual organs, which, in turn, can reduce erectile dysfunction.

It may seem like too many of these supplements are for fighting erectile dysfunction, but that is sadly a real problem among men over a certain age. However, yohimbine may also cause some side effects like headaches and anxiety. The true extent of the effect of this compound on men’s sexual health has yet to be studied, so it’s important to speak to a doctor prior to taking this supplement.

A decrease in sexual health and drive isn’t uncommon in aging men. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, as it’s simply a part of life. However, there are some things you can do to combat the realities of aging. When it comes to sex, these vitamins for men’s libido are worth a second look. But, when in doubt, talking to a professional is always a better course of action than self-medicating.
